Why declare products and compositions to the Belgian Poison Centre?

In the event of poisoning or accidental exposure, the professionals at the Belgian Poison Centre must have rapid access to the information necessary on the composition of products in order to provide appropriate medical advice.

The notification of certain products is mandatory under European and Belgian legislation. For products that are not subject to a notification requirement, voluntary notification is also possible to ensure that the Poison Centre has the necessary information in the event of an emergency.

Information on product composition provided to the Poison Centre is treated as strictly confidential, in accordance with Article 45(2) of Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP) and the Royal Decree of 21 April 2016 on making information on hazardous mixtures available to the Poison Centre.

We thank companies for their cooperation and their essential contribution to ensuring that the information needed for the prompt and appropriate medical management of poisoning cases is available.

The declarations of products by the industry to the Belgian Poison Centre are strictly confidential.

Our medical team appreciates your efforts and thanks you for your cooperation.
