Hypoglykemierende sulfamiden

Octreotide (Sandostatin®)

Om de terugkerende en moeilijk te controleren hypoglycemie na intoxicatie met deze antidiabetische middelen te behandelen, gaat men octreotide toedienen. Het octreotide inhibeert de vrijstelling van insuline. Gezien de lange werkingsduur van deze geneesmiddelen moet de behandeling uren dagen worden voortgezet.

Posologie:

  • Volwassenen: 50 - 100 mcg IV of SC om de 6 tot 12 uur, maximum 3 keer.

  • Kinderen: 25 - 50 mcg IV of SC om de 6 tot 12 uur, maximum 3 keer.

De dosis en de behandelingsduur zijn afhankelijk van de hoeveelheid ingenomen geneesmiddel en het respectievelijke halfleven. Regelmatige controle van de glucosespiegel is noodzakelijk.
